Dr. Dudeja received his medical degree and initial surgical training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India. After completing a research fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Ashok Saluja, a renowned pancreas scientist, he went on to complete his general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. Thereafter, he completed a fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology and Hepato-pancreatico-biliary Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After his fellowship training, he joined a faculty position at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Professor, Masonic Cancer Center Scholar and Varco Surgeon Scientist until he joined the University of Miami.
Dr Dudeja specializes in surgery for tumors of the liver, pancreas, biliary system, stomach and retroperitoneal sarcomas. As an integral member of the Sylvester Pancreas Cancer Research Institute, he will continue his cutting edge basic/translational science research evaluating the role of tumor microenvironment in the pathogenesis of pancreatic and liver cancers currently funded by the NIH and Department of Defense.
Dr. Dudeja has authored more than 50 original research papers in high impact journals such as Gastroenterology, Gut, Science Translational Medicine and Cancer Research. He has authored and co-authored a number of book chapters and invited reviews. He is a member of several prestigious surgical and scientific societies, including American Pancreatic Association, Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Academic Surgeons, American Association of Cancer Research and Society of Surgery of Alimentary Tract.
The list of Dr. Dudeja’s honors and awards is long but include: The Doctor David Gaviser Mount Sinai Hospital Surgical Research Award for Outstanding Achievement in Surgical Research, Excellence in Basic Science Research Award, Research Scholar of the Year Award, and the Earl G. Young Memorial Award to name a few.
