Biografía

 Dr. Antonio Omuro is a Neuro-oncologist who cares for patients with brain tumors. Dr. Omuro obtained his medical degree and completed a Neurology residency at the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine. He obtained further subspecialty training in Neuro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and at Hopital Pitie-Salpetriere in Paris.

Following an 11-year tenure as a faculty member of Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan, Dr. Omuro joined the Department of Neurology at University of Miami as an Associate Professor and Chief of the Neuro-Oncology Service.

Dr. Omuro coordinates a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists who collaborate to provide the highest quality treatment for patients with gliomas and glioblastomas, primary central nervous system lymphomas (brain and spinal cord), ependymomas, and other types of brain tumors.

With a research focus on developing innovative and more effective treatments for brain tumors, Dr. Omuro is leading several national and international clinical trials aiming to improve patients’ survival and quality of life, including studies of new individualized targeted therapies based on gene sequencing, modulation of cancer stem cells and new forms of immunotherapy for brain tumors.
