Biografía

Dr. Enrique Serrano is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Epilepsy Division of the Department of Neurology. After graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Florida, he then went on to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Puerto Rico.

Dr. Serrano completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and served for four years as a general practitioner and medical officer in the United States Navy. He was then deployed to Iraq where he served as the only physician on a naval ship assigned to the Lincoln Battle Group in the Persian Gulf during Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Following his naval service, he went on to complete his residency in Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia which was followed by a fellowship in Neurophysiology with an emphasis in Epilepsy.

Prior to joining the Department of Neurology, Dr. Serrano worked for several years in private practice in the Louisiana and South Florida areas. He is Board-certified in Neurology by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Serrano also serves as a representative of the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida on the Advisory Council of the Florida Center for Universal Research to Eradicate Disease (FL CURED).  His major subspecialty interest is epilepsy including interpreting routine and ambulatory electroencephalograms (EEGs), evaluating and treating patients with seizures, conducting therapeutic trials of medications for the treatment of epilepsy, and in the pre-surgical evaluation of patients with intractable epilepsy.
